Growing up, we were pretty close to our cousins. For a while we lived just around the corner from one set and we would see them for Easter egg hunts and Christmas and rides around the neighborhood on our bikes. One of the huge downsides to living in Hawaii is that we’re so far away from our families. I finally got some pictures in the mail from our trip to Portland & Vancouver this summer and even though we didn’t get a lot of dedicated cousin time, there were a few days when the girls all got to play and seeing them laugh and play together was a pretty amazing feeling. In two weeks we’re headed for New York to see my family for Thanksgiving and then on to Seattle for Wes’ annual work meetings, after which his family will drive up and we’ll spend the weekend together. Stella & I will be gone for over two weeks and I don’t even want to think about the money we’ll be spending on all the rentals and dinners and random things that will pop up while we’re there because it will be worth it to see Stella with all the people who love her best but don’t get to see her that often. Giving these girls a friendship early on will be worth it.
